Niamh Wilson

Domestic Violence Advocate

Niamh Wilson has worked as a domestic violence advocate for almost 30 years advocating for the rights of individual women and children and wider social change. She has worked as a frontline service provider and held roles as an educator, trainer, facilitator, researcher and community development worker in supporting community responses to violence against women. For the past 11 years she has been the manager of a domestic violence service organisation in Sligo and Leitrim and just recently left her job to pursue a PhD study into the education needs of domestic violence advocates. She has a long held interest in the role of education as a core element in the architecture of domestic violence responses and in 2014 completed an MEd in Adult and Community Education exploring education frameworks for domestic violence organisations in four countries.
