Public Transport in Dublin City Centre

The DART

Visitors to the capital are encouraged to use the DART, (Dublin Area Rapid Transport), to enjoy stunning views of Dublin Bay and travel out of the city to the numerous fishing villages and towns that are dotted along the coastline. The city center DART stations are Connolly, Pearse and Tara.

The LUAS

Dublin now has its own state-of-the-art light rail system which services the city and its outskirts. This is a hassle-free way to travel to and from the city center.

Dublin Bus

Dublin bus is the public bus service that takes passengers all over the city at a low fare.
Or you can access all these public bus service routes throughout the city by using just one prepaid ticket called the ‘Freedom Ticket’.

Dublin Bikes

This is a self-service bike rental system which has proven very popular with Dubliners. With 40 stations and 450 dbs (bikes), it enables you to travel through the city center and get out and about to enjoy Dublin city at your leisure. All stations are equipped for 3 Day Ticket users. A 3 Day Ticket costs €2. The first 30 minutes of use is free on every Dublin bike.

Irish Rail

Irish rail system is the best way to travel throughout Ireland and visit the country. Trains are usually comfortable and punctual by Irish standards. The rail network in Ireland is not very extensive, serving only the larger cities and most major towns. If you are thinking of travelling to the more remote scenic areas, you may have to use the local bus services to reach your destination.

Getting around Ireland has never been easier. For maximum choice and flexibility choose from Bus Eireann’s three different types of Tourist Travel Pass.
Open Road Pass
The Open Road bus pass allows you unlimited travel on all Bus Éireann scheduled services including Expressway, local, city and town services. Irish Rover Bus Only
Valid for travel on all Bus Éireann and Ulsterbus services in the Republic of Ireland & Northern Ireland. Also valid on city services in Cork, Limerick, Galway, Waterford & Belfast (Citybus).

Valid for travel on Intercity, DART, Suburban Rail Services (Iarnród Éireann) and all Bus Éireann scheduled services including Expressway, local, city and town services. It is not valid for travel on services in Northern Ireland.
